Feliz Birthday…

Is this thing on?!?!?!

Once again I told myself over and over to keep up with this thing lol. I haven’t and yes I’m ashamed of myself.

Today I am celebrating my birthday so I thought I would post about it. My birthday was almost 2 weeks ago, but today I am celebrating what I consider my 4th birthday. It’s the anniversary of the day I almost left my body. Not too many people know what that means or what happened to me. So it’s probably a little confusing to you. Without going into too much detail and turning this into a 6 mile post. I don’t even know how to say this without it sounding so dramatic. BUT I almost died 4 years ago. That’s as much as I’m going to say because it’s still hard for me to talk about.

I’ve never been one to celebrate my birthday. It’s just not one of those things that isn’t important. I don’t even tell people it’s my birthday. This year for some reason I didn’t feel the same. I decided to decorate my own desk at work. Then I said I wasn’t going to because my coworkers would laugh at me. I asked my niece if it was a dumb idea to decorate for myself. She quickly replied with “Tia, there is nothing wrong with celebrating yourself” She is right! So for my real birthday a couple of weeks ago, I bought myself some balloons and I made myself a birthday banner.

Best thing about celebrating another birthday today, was a little visit from this precious girl. Thanks for brining her Dana <3

Itzel had a half birthday a few days ago. I made her crown and banner.

I keep posting the banner on Instagram lol. I’m so proud of it.

Aside from banners, I’ve been making so many paper flowers. At one point my living room was a flower shop lol.

Happy Tyson Tuesday by the way.

If you’re still reading this. Thank you!

Have a great evening and thanks for stoping by.

Paper flower workshop…

I’ve made a few large paper flowers before, but I eyeballed them and wasn’t sure if I was making them right. When Jamie at 702_ flowers4U offered a paper flower workshop. I decided to make a weekend out of it and travel to Las Vegas to take her workshop. Jamie was so nice and answered all my questions and didn’t hesitate to give us info, that is usually so hard to get answers to.

We made 2 flowers using her templates.

Here is the first one.

Those close up of the center is more true to color of this beautiful salmon colored paper.

My petals are a little wonky but I will keep practicing.

We also made this flower, that I am so in love with.

Love the center with a little “bling”

Thanks for all the goodies Jamie <3

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Las Vegas…

It’s been years since I’ve been to Vegas. I decided to make the trip for a paper flower class!!! Super excited. I got here a day early and I’m already enjoying the yummy treats.

Sugar free desserts have come a long way and I’m so glad there are more options.

Taking pictures of the strip like I haven’t been here a million times before.

The Mirage.

Love all the palm trees.

Find this beauty at the Wynn.

I love carousels. This one is stunning.

I could have stood there for hours.

One last picture.

Have a great weekend <3

Doll flower crown…

Is it just me or did this week drag on? I’ve also been feeling a little drained so that might be why I think it’s been a long week.

I decided to name another flower crown. But this time it’s for my doll Starkiss!!!

I used mini foam flowers for this one instead of paper flowers.

I didn’t have a model for my other flower crown, but I do for this one.

My Starkiss looks so beautiful.

And now I might have to make one for my Martini.

Have a great weekend.

Magazine paper flower…

I fell in love with paper flowers a little over a year ago and I haven’t stopped making them since. I saw an old California Home + Design magazine in the office the other day and well I had to put it to good use.

I tried to cut the petals on pages with Beach photos and fun words. I used their logo for a a couple of petals too.

I love the way it looks. I think I might make more!

Happy Saturday <3

National Craft Month…

Happy March!!!
It’s National Craft Month and I am always super excited for this month to come around. Please join me this entire month, because my plan is to make something daily and then blog about it. I am going to post pictures, share some tips, maybe a tutorial a few tutorials and 5 giveaways.

I decided to go with something super easy today. Way too easy if you ask me. Now that I think about it, is wrapping floral wire really a craft??? LOL. Either way, that’s what I decided to work on today.

I like wrapping several packages of floral wire at a time. It eliminates this process when I’m making a big quantity of paper flowers. It saves me time and it saves me sticky fingers when I’m working with paper petals.

I also like wrapping 2 wires together. Flowers will stand up better in a vase without marbles or beads. I’m sure there is thicker floral wire, but this works for me.

I hope you’re having a great week and I also hope you’ll come back all month.

What to do, what to do…

I am always torn with what I want to do with this space. I start posting, I get excited. Then I fall off the wagon. I’m not consistent anymore and that bothers me. I started posting a few years after I started sewing. I wanted this to be a place where I kept track of how I was coming along. I wanted to be able to go back and see what I learned. I loved posting. I really do want to get back into it. I need some motivation. HELP!!!

For now I leave you with some flowers. That seem to be all I’ve been doing lately. I have fallen in love with the entire process. I want to send them around the world lol.

Have a great weekend.
